People Looking Jay Abraham and Peter Thompson Gift Horses in The Mouth

Direct mail is interesting, as is direct email.

You can’t know how good a piece is until you put it to the public vote.

Then the public vote with their sales, or not!

If you’ve read this blog for more than a few weeks you know I’m a Jay Abraham fan. and that I’m a business coach who coaches business all over the world.

So when I received an email from Jay about a free teleseminar he was organising I immediately sent it out to the people I know in the Northwest Uk. Because believe me you want to hear the stuff Jay says, plus he’s giving other free stuff away too! It’s a no-brainer.

Or so I thought.

One of the people I sent the email to unsubscribed from my list because “she didn’t have time to read through long emails”. Which I thought was a pity as my list tends to get useful tips and techniques and books such as Ted Nicholas’ “Magic Words That Bring You Riches” for free.

Which set me wondering.

You really can’t lead a horse to water and expect it to drink.

A no-brainer, maybe?

Another example, I love Peter Thomson’s Achiever’s Edge monthly personal and business development programme. It’s given me so much useful stuff over the years. So I thought I’d let my list know all about it. Particularly as Peter is offering a load of MP3 interviews (With Richard Bandler, Ted Nicholas, Robert Ciliadini and Steve McDermott). I mean all you have to do is pay the equivalent of £1 to learn stuff that helps you and your business.

Well, interestingly enough after I sent out an email about it plenty of people visited Peter’s site. A disappointing number signed up.

Not disappointing because I don’t earn much on the affiliate side. Who cares? It’s a trivial amount. No, I was disappointed because I’m hard-wired to help people. I know most businesses need better marketing, sales, time management and organisational tips, techniques and hints.

Then I thought…

Aha! People are concerned about being ripped off.

So I offered to pay them £1.00 if they genuinely felt that the interviews they downloaded didn’t give them a single useful tip worth more than a £1.00! Now that’s a better than money back guarantee because Peter had already said they could keep the material if they didn’t stay subscribed. In fact they could unsubscribe straight after the download.

Again, more people visited the site. A few more signed up. But I thought everyone should!

There’s stuff in Peter’s material that I’ve used in coaching. In fact I often suggest that people subscribe to it purely because it’s an uplifting, interesting and useful monthly injection of business and personal horse sense.

You get my point.

So I’m interested to see whether people have signed up for Jay’s teleseminar. I won’t know for a few weeks. But I hope they have. Running a company doesn’t need to be hard. Jay has the ability to give people the tools and techniques to help.

Obviously I do too! But I started after Jay so I’m not at Jay’s level, yet. But then again I’m not paid $5,000 per hour.

Maybe you’re wondering whether Jay’s teleseminar would be any use for you? Try it.

The live seminar has happened but you can sign up for the free replay. There are replay’s today and Tuesday 18th April.
