Our organisation uses and has had plenty of feedback about Twitter and it seems that the use of it requires constant attention such that you maintain quality relationships, not quantity. Anyone who tells you that they are 'following' 500 people on Twitter, you have to ask 'How?'. Another thing that can be misleading are those who claim to follow and have follow them, well known personalities. By association they are clearly very important themselves. ;) Once again this comes down to the definition of follow.
