Still Using These Outdated Buzzwords?

The Manchester Evening News printed a set of what they called the “Top 5 Office jargon Faux-Pas”.

And they were:

  1. Blue Sky Thinking
  2. Singing From The Same Hymn Sheet
  3. Thinking Outside The Box
  4. Let’s Take It Offline
  5. Park That Thought

They also reckoned on the following phrases to avoid:

  1. Getting Down With The Kids
  2. Open Up Your Kimono
  3. Let’s Raise The Anchor And Let This One Drift
  4. There’s No ‘I’ in Team
  5. Am I Bovvered

I’ve always hated buzzwords. I can still remember thinking what a pillock the person I first heard use “thinking outside the box” was.

They’re a substitute for thinking.

Others I hate include:

  1. Let’s Run It Up The Flagpole
  2. Give Me The Ballpark Figure
  3. Quality Is Number One
  4. Mission Critical

Give me a break!

Do you know any that actually make sense?

I think you forgot “dynamic”, “holistic” and “leverage”

I always suspect buzzwords are a sign of the inability to think clearly and originally
