The Apprentice Card Theme Firing

Hi, Enjoy the post. If you find this blog useful, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed so you don't miss out on the nuggets. Thanks for visiting!

Margaret and Nick gave the following card sales figures:

  Renaissance Sales Alpha Sales
Card Buyers
Tesco 6,000 1,500
Clinton’s 0 1,500
Celebrations 0 19,500

Obviously Renaissance, Kevin’s team, with the ridiculous Environmental Day lost.

The more I see of Kevin the more I wonder how he expects to be the best businessman in the whole-wide world by the time he’s 40. Sorry Kevin on your performance across the series so far that wont happen.

Agent Orange (AKA Jennifer Celerier) decides to choose Sara as her scapegoat - despite Sara having actually made good suggestions - like a pet card. I’ve come to the conclusion that these candidates don’t actually hear anything unless either they’re speaking or someone who is supporting what they say is speaking.

As an example and also helping to dig himself a hole:

Sir Alan suggests that any member of public interested in Green issues would know not to send cards, as it simply adds to the environmental impact. Kevin says, “I disagree.”

And of course the fact that Kevin did the presentation when it should have been Claire simply dug the hole deeper.

During the course of the boardroom Jenny immediately brought into her scapegoat into play. And of course when Sir Alan asks Claire and Kevin who should be fired they both say Sara. So Kevin (IEIID) in a moment of what appears to be characteristic lack of backbone chooses Sara to go back into the boardroom when he must have known he should have chosen Agent Orange.

In the end Kevin’s hole gets deeper as he bleats about Agent Orange working hard (on a rubbish idea). Sir Alan suggested that Agent Orange had railroaded Kevin into the stupid theme. Kevin was fired.

Was The Firing Deserved?

Without any doubt if Agent Orange had been in the boardroom she would have been fired. However, Kevin had so little commercial sense that he didn’t realise that he should have taken her into the boardroom. Apart from that he was too weak to realise that he should have allocated the retail buyer (Claire) to do the presentation rather than struggle along by himself. Then he should have done better market research - for example why didn’t the card shops do environmental cards!

The more I see of Agent Orange the more I know she’s a complete snake in the grass. If she behaves like that in the Apprentice I’d be interested to know how she behaves out in the real world.

Finally when Sara and Claire return to the house some of the candidates start putting her through another interrogation until Raef correctly stepped in and stopped it. Good editing and well done Raef.
