The One Secret About Copywriting Almost No One Knows

The secret is this…

Once we were exactly like you.

There the secret’s out.

Now you know what that means don’t you?

Just in case you don’t it means that you could write your own copy and the world wont cave in!

OK to begin with your copy is probably going to suck, big time.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I’m willing to bet most copywriters couldn’t write for toffee to begin with. Our headlines were probably mostly rubbish then too.

I admit mine were pretty appalling.

Often we didn’t do it as our main job. Maybe someone will correct me on that one.

But I know there are strong marketers out there who write copy and didn’t have copywriting as their main business. At least not to start with.

Usually they either wrote copy for their own business or for an employer.

Did they get it right everytime?

The resounding answer to that is NO!

Do they still get it right first time?

Again the answer is no.

That’s why testing copy is vital.

The secret is they kept writing, kept testing and didn’t let failure to produce results with one copy package put them off.

Look at Gary Halbert he mortgaged himself up to the hilt because he wrote so much copy that flopped to begin with. Eventually he found his style and the “one thing” to go for and his copy worked massively. See Gary’s web site for more information on that.

So the secret is that you can write your own copy.

It may take you some time to get it right but Rome wasn’t built in a day. Mind you it might have been with modern construction techniques.

The way to short-cut your route to the top in copywriting is through a copywriter mentor and through looking at recurring ads and direct sales letters you get. Because if they keep appearing they’re making money. By great copywriting.

Michel Fortin, also known as the “Copy Doctor” and the “Success Doctor” goes through people’s web site sales letters and shows you how to improve them. So it’s a great short cut to learning how to write copy that sizzles. And more importantly sells.

I’ve enjoyed reading the Success Doctor since 2000 when Michel started producing it. Similarly the Copy Doctor’s Profit Pill.

A good copywriter is a sponge and absords everything about marketing and copywriting they can get their hands on. But they only use what they know to work and have tested in small runs. So go find a mentor. Someone who writes and understands that copy is not simplistic hype.

That way you’ll get to have control of your own results.
